Mum wrote an article about our new hobby Canicross, which we love so much. It was featured on a local online site. There’s a photo of me, Sid & our pal Hank. I think we look awesome. The humans are definitely forcing a smile though as I tell you now, that hill was a real glute burner!
Hi, Red here!
I keep meaning to write about our recent trip to the Peak District with Mum & Dad. Finally I’ve put paw to paper, lol!
We stayed in a lovely cottage on a working farm in Castleton. It was awesome. There were cows, sheep and even loose chickens. We had to use all our willpower not to chase any of them, sheep especially! They do smell particularly pungent!
It was weird waking up in the morning to the sound of cows mooing. Mum took a really cool photo from our bedroom.
Ahem, although I don’t think it was allowed (don’t tell anyone!) we got to sleep with Mum & Dad every night on the super king size bed….though Mum still complained that we took up all the room between us, hehe. And Sidney wasn’t popular the first night. I don’t think he was feeling too great and, well put it this way, at one point the smell was so bad that it woke me up and I ended up going downstairs to sleep on the couch. Jeez, boys!!
Anyway, we did some amazing walks and even got to go to the pub on a couple of occasions. We were so spoilt one day in particular. We did a 4 hour walk (best walk ever!), then Mum brought our bed from the car into the pub so we could have a snooze while Dad tried out some of the ales! We got some treats for being so good. Pigs ears are our favourites, yummy!!!!
This walk we did that was the best ever was AMAZING. I’m not sure if it’s Sid’s favourite but I was in my element. I’ve never seen so many Red Grouse in all my life. I had so much fun jumping in the heather trying to flush them out. They make such a funny sound.
We did a canicross run when we were away too. That was fun though it stopped us from running off into the woods after squirrels and rabbits, boo!
It was lovely having time off with Mum & Dad. Unfortunately it was back to ‘school’ when we got back (otherwise known as doggy day care) but I sure had lots of lovely dreams about Red Grouse for a long time after.
Happy days 🙂
Haha….not that first time I’m afraid. Mum put pay to that with a visit to the vets when I was about 10 months old. Humphhhh! I had my eye on this gorgeous fox terrier (should be fox with a Y on the end baby!) and was working my charm on her…but now all I can do is dream about it.
No, I mean my first time at canicross, lol. It’s about time I had a go. It’s all Red’s been raving on about the past few weeks.
Mum took me and Red along to Chobham Common (Dad is still injured so couldn’t come) to join our new pal Hank and his Mum (Tanja) and Dad (Paul). Tanja paired up with me. She’s great. She even put some pics up on facebook and said I was ‘gorgeous’. Luckily being a dog, no-one can see my blushes!
We were meant to be joined by Gonzo (another Vizsla like Hank) and his Mum Annabel but poor Gonzo was ill yesterday so needs to rest today. She ate an acorn and it made her very poorly. Apparently the skin is very toxic so she had to have an injection to make her sick. One of Gonzo’s friends said that we shouldn’t eat conkers either as they are bad for us dogs too.
Hopefully Gonzo will be back running with us next weekend. I think the plan is to run the Hard As Snails route that Red did a couple of weeks ago. I get to go along too with my new pal Tanja.
Here’s me in my new kit. I think the colour red suits me, don’t you?
Lots of licks, Sid xx
I may be missing out on a canicross run at the weekend (& I just know Red’s going to rub it in big time!) but all is forgiven Mum! I am in doggy heaven right now!
These are the best treats. Mum gets them online on Zooplus. She did a really big shop this time. My favourites are the pigs ears, wild boar strips and the ostrich & venison cookies. Yummy!!!!
Hi, Red here.
Mum took me out for a run in The Chantries yesterday to try out our new canicross kit. It was really cool. We met up with my new pal Hank the Vizsla and his Mum and Dad, Tanja and Paul. I enjoyed it more than last time, partly because it wasn’t so strange (it was weird wearing a harness for the first time last week) and partly because it was more chilled (there were a lot of new dogs and people last time which made me a bit anxious).
My mum was so excited. I could tell she was loving it too.
I like Paul. When we stopped for a break he gave me a treat and some water.
The only downside was that Sidney couldn’t join us. Dad has an injury at the moment so won’t be doing any sport for a few weeks. Poor Sid, I know he can’t wait to come out for a run with us too. Mum has bought his kit though so it’s waiting for when Dad’s feeling better so we can all go out together.
Mum’s good though. She took both of us out for a 90 min walk before taking me for my canicross run so Sid was content. I was shattered though, haha!
Let’s Get Ready To Rumble!
Hi, Red here!
Wow, I had the most amazing time yesterday. Mum took me on my first ever Canicross training run. We met up with some people and their dogs who I’ve never met before and did a run in The Chantries. To be honest, I was a bit nervous at first. Dad & Sidney weren’t there, so it was just me & Mum, plus all these new other dogs I met were making a lot of noise at the start and making me feel a bit stressed out. Then Mum put this weird harness on me which felt a bit odd at first. BUT, once we all set off, I really got into it and I have to admit I rather enjoyed it. I could sense Mum was loving it too which made me happy. It was great running in a pack, all us dogs and our owners. I got quite confident by the end & ended up running up front with a cool kelpie/collie cross called Henry.
Mum was so happy that as soon as we got home she was online ordering the Canicross kit for me and Sid. We were recommended a company called Kisi and Mum spoke to a nice lady called Sindy who is going to try and turn the order around quickly so we can go out again next weekend hopefully.
I told Sid all about it and he can’t wait to try it out too.
I did overhear Mum talking to her new friends about entering us into a race in a couple of weeks. Uh oh!
